Organic Farm Holidays, Powys, Mid Wales

Nannerth Fawr Farm is a 200 acre family farm with a flock of Welsh mountain ewes, a flock of Tor Wen sheep and numerous other farmyard animals and poultry. We do not use intensive methods and our animals have plenty of space in a natural outdoor environment. We are currently ‘in conversion’ to organic status.

Activities you may see at different times of the year include lambing, shearing, gathering sheep from the hills surrounding the farm, hedging and hay or silage making. Children can sometimes help with feeding the poultry, bottle feeding a lamb or bringing sheep in.

On the farm you will see hay meadows and pastures, ancient woodlands, wetlands, the river Wye and the open moorland above the farm. These different areas provide habitats for various species
of birds, animals, insects and plants. In particular, there are water voles and dragonflies in the wetlands, otter in the river, badgers and red kites.

As well as birdwatching, and walking the hills adjoining the farm, you can badgerwatch from the treehouse hide, handle and fly a hawk with Hawksdrift Falconry and walk or cycle our private farm trails.
