Finally we have time to put pen to paper, metaphorically, and update our news.  After an incredibly dry March, we had absolutely wonderful hot, dry and sunny weather throughout the whole of April which fortunately coincided with lambing.  The benefits were no hypothermia, no drenched and hungry lambs and no mud!  It was also great for our holiday guests in tee shirts and shorts, barbecuing on the terraces and soaking up the Welsh sun. But there is usually a downside when you're farming.  We ended up with a lot of lambs on the bottle as their mothers had insufficient milk, and we still have half a dozen regulars, now on a bucket feeder.  The dry weather has meant the grass didn't grow and we were worried about food for the sheep and hay for the winter.  The rain this week has been very welcome and saved the grass. 

Along with many of our guests, we are still missing Blue.  We thought long and hard about another guest friendly dog and eventually chose Cari (short for Cariad which is Welsh for darling or sweetheart). Cari is a working cocker spaniel, now 12 weeks old and extremely busy when she's awake.  It's like having a baby, you enjoy them when they are being playful and happy, but you breathe a sigh of relief when they go to bed for a kip - time to get the jobs done...  Some of our guests were here when Cari arrived aged 8 weeks and so delightful.  The children were very good and respected her feelings.   

They knew she was getting used to her new surroundings and was a bit overwhelmed by lots of people and different sounds and smells everywhere.  There may be some brilliant photos out there somewhere, so we would be very grateful if you have the time to email them or put them on facebook.
