Quite springlike here at Nannerth this week with warm temperatures and some sunshine. Andre gathered the ewes yesterday and today they will be scanned for lambs they are carrying.  This way we know in advance which are expecting singles, which twins and which are barren.  Their food rations are adjusted accordingly and the barren ones moved to a different area of the farm.  It is also a good opportunity to check their feet for any foot rot and treat them by trimming and anti fungal spray.  Teeth are also checked and general condition of the ewes.  The hard winter may have taken its toll on some of the flock, but we hope it hasn’t affected the lambing too much.
